MKS PAMP Installs Solar Panels at its Castel San Pietro Refinery to Accelerate Supply of Renewable Energy

TICINO – 28th February 2024 - MKS PAMP, a precious metal market leader providing financial and physical trading services and operating a state-of-the-art precious metals refinery installs solar panels, covering a total area 2000m² rooftop solar panels with an expected annual production of 519.7 MWh.

This renewable energy milestone is a testament to MKS PAMP’s commitment and environmental consciousness.

Since 2016, MKS PAMP has an agreement with the Swiss Confederation to reduce Co₂ emissions. In the period of 2016-2023,  MKS PAMP reduced its CO₂ emissions at its production site by 41%.  Moreover, they continue to source 100% renewable electricity long-term.

In 2022, MKS PAMP became the first precious metals company in the world to have SBTi approved carbon emissions reduction targets, in line with containing global warming to a 1.5°C limit.

"This renewable energy installation demonstrates our path to continued environmental sustainability - we are proud to achieve such objectives with the support of the Castel San Pietro municipality ”, said Phaedon Stamatopoulos, Managing Director, MKS PAMP Ticino.

As Marika Codoni - Head of the Department of Environmental Protection, Spatial Planning and Social Welfare of the Municipality of Castel San Pietro testifies “Since 2022, the Municipality of Castel San Pietro has a sustainability report and a system of indicators to engage the municipality with a strategic document that allows it to orient and plan political choices on the basis of concrete facts. The number of photovoltaic systems and the installed power constitute important indicators for the quality of the energy used. The installation of photovoltaic systems like the one at MKS PAMP tangibly increases the installed power in the area and is a virtuous example of sustainable progress. An initiative that we hope will inspire other companies and citizens to follow the example”.

Ends.
