MKS PAMP inaugurates Mario Botta-designed building as part of continued investment in Swiss precious metals site

The new administrative building – designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta – marks an important milestone in the evolution of MKS PAMP’s refining and manufacturing site in Ticino, a center of expertise serving customers worldwide.

Castel San Pietro, Switzerland, 9 June 2026 – MKS PAMP today inaugurated a new Mario Botta-designed administrative building at its precious metals refining and manufacturing site in Castel San Pietro, Ticino, Switzerland. The building represents the latest milestone in the continued development of the company’s Ticino site, reinforcing MKS PAMP’s long-term investment in Swiss manufacturing capabilities, specialized expertise, and infrastructure serving its international customer base.

"With this new building, we want to reaffirm our ties with Castel San Pietro. It is an investment in spaces, but above all in our people and in the future of our presence in the area," explains Phaedon Stamatopoulos, Managing Director of MKS PAMP Ticino.

The inauguration brought together architect Mario Botta, local institutional representatives, partners, and members of the MKS PAMP leadership team. The ceremony highlighted the role of the Castel San Pietro site within MKS PAMP’s wider Swiss and international activities.

"For MKS PAMP, continued investment in Castel San Pietro reflects our commitment to sustainable growth, Swiss excellence and trusted service to our customers around the world,” adds James Emmett, CEO of MKS PAMP.

Strengthening a Swiss center of expertise in precious metals

Over the years, MKS PAMP has established a significant precious metals refining and manufacturing presence in Castel San Pietro. The Ticino site plays a central role in the company's activities, combining manufacturing know-how, precision, quality, and innovation capacity. Today’s inauguration is part of a broader evolution.

The relocation of administrative teams will allow existing office spaces to be gradually adapted to support the continued development of the Castel San Pietro site.

The company has also submitted plans to the competent authorities for the construction of a proposed new manufacturing facility – also designed by Mario Botta – dedicated to minting and mechanical processes, planned to the north of the current refinery and mint.

These developments reflect MKS PAMP’s long-term vision for the evolution of its footprint in the region and commitment to developing high-quality manufacturing capabilities.

A modern workplace designed for people, place and efficiency

The new building houses offices and spaces dedicated to administrative employees, and is designed to foster a modern, functional working environment. It stands out for its architectural quality and the attention given to its integration with the existing surroundings.

The architect Mario Botta emphasized in his speech during the inauguration ceremony: "Industrial architecture is not merely a response to operational needs. It can become part of the landscape, of the culture of the place, and of the relationship between business and territory."

The project also reflects MKS PAMP's focus on sustainability and efficiency. The building is equipped with a rooftop photovoltaic system that forms an integral part of the building's energy infrastructure.
