Geneva, 12 June 2025 – To celebrate the centenary of the iconic 100-franc Vreneli, MKS PAMP, in collaboration with Swissmint, has released a short video capturing the artistry, precision and partnership behind the creation of this special coin — from the refining of responsibly sourced gold in Ticino by MKS PAMP to its striking at Swissmint in Bern. The video spotlights the coming together of two leading Swiss institutions both driven by a commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation. It offers a rare behind-the-scenes view into the full production journey of a modern collectible rooted in national heritage.

Originally issued in 1925, the 100-franc Vreneli holds a unique place in Switzerland’s numismatic history as the only European gold coin of its era to depict a woman rather than a sovereign. A century later, this anniversary edition reinterprets that legacy with a modern design that pays tribute to Helvetia while symbolizing Swiss identity, artistry and forward-looking values.

Designed by Chiara Principe, the new Vreneli features a front-facing portrait of a young girl, Vreneli, crowned with a laurel wreath, framed by alpine roses and gentians, and backed by the radiating Swiss cross above the Alps. The reverse of the coin brings past and present together, juxtaposing the original Vreneli bust with the 100-franc denomination and incorporating signature design details from both the artist and the Swissmint.

Entirely produced in Switzerland, the coin’s journey reflects the highest standards of responsible sourcing and technical mastery. From refining the gold by MKS PAMP in Ticino — a globally recognized leader and one of only three approved Good Delivery Referees of both the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) and London Platinum and Palladium Market (LPPM) — to the final coinage by Swissmint in Bern, each step honors Swiss excellence, precision and craftsmanship.
