The Royal Mint and MMTC-PAMP strike the first Gold Sovereign Coins in India since 1918

In February 2013, a new partnership between the Royal Mint and MMTC-PAMP India was announced. For the first time in nearly a century, Gold Sovereign coins were reintroduced into India. These commemorative Sovereigns, struck in India by MMTC-PAMP using tools and techniques developed by The Royal Mint in South Wales, UK, are uniquely available to the Indian market and carry the special mint mark “I” to show that they have been manufactured there.
